In some parts of the world, soils have a relatively low exchange capacity, contain low organic matter and are subjected to heavy rains. Under these conditions of soil and the heavy rainfall, highly soluble boron compounds may either supply boron in higher quantities than required, or be leached by heavy rains that adequate supply of boron cannot be maintained.
Under such conditions, less soluble boron compounds are used as a means to provide a more uniform and continuous supply of boron throughout the growing season.
